Comex 2000 Secures Fibre Upgrade Contract Extension with Virgin Media O2
Comex, a leading provider of telecommunications infrastructure services, has secured a significant contract extension with Virgin Media O2, further strengthening a long-standing strategic partnership and supporting the continued expansion of the UK’s full fibre network.
The agreement extends Comex’s role in delivering Fibre Upgrade works across Scotland and Midlands.
The Fibre Upgrade programme forms part of Virgin Media O2’s wider strategy to modernise its fixed network infrastructure and accelerate the transition to full fibre connectivity, delivering faster and more reliable broadband services to homes and businesses across the UK.
Mark Philby, Managing Director at Comex, said:
“This contract extension represents another major milestone for Comex and reflects the strength of our partnership with Virgin Media O2.
We are proud to continue supporting the delivery of critical fibre infrastructure that will future-proof connectivity for communities across Scotland and Midlands. Our teams have built a strong track record of delivery on this programme, and we look forward to continuing that success over the coming years.
Alongside delivering critical infrastructure, Comex remains committed to creating sustainable social value through skilled employment, apprenticeships, and workforce development across the regions we serve.
We are particularly proud to support individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those not in education, employment or training (NEET), and members of the Armed Forces community, reflected in our Armed Forces Covenant Silver Award.
The programme will prioritise responsible environmental practices, including material recycling, waste reduction, and efficient reuse of materials where possible.”
The programme will focus on upgrading legacy network infrastructure to full fibre technology, improving network performance, resilience, and overall customer experience.
Matt Tully, Director of Fixed Access Engineering at Virgin Media O2, said:
“Extending our partnership with Comex enables us to build on an established record of successful delivery as we continue our Fibre Upgrade rollout. This upgrade work is essential in helping us meet increasing demand for high-speed, reliable connectivity for customers and businesses across the UK.”
The contract extension further reinforces Comex’s position as a trusted delivery partner supporting the transformation of the UK’s digital infrastructure.
